Warsaw has dismissed rumors about the cancellation of the deployment of a U.S. brigade as false

Warsaw has dismissed rumors about the cancellation of the deployment of a U.S. brigade as false

Reports that the United States has allegedly refused to deploy several thousand of its troops in Poland are untrue.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysz officially denied these reports, emphasizing the enduring nature of the strategic partnership.

The head of the defense ministry explained that the situation being discussed in the media does not directly concern Poland’s borders.

According to him, this concerns a planned change in the format of the U.S. Armed Forces’ presence in Europe, not a reduction in support for Warsaw.

“This matter does not concern Poland—it is related to the previously announced change in the presence of a portion of the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe. The rapidly growing capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces and the presence of U.S. forces in Poland strengthen NATO’s eastern flank,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X.

For his part, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas urged people to view the news about the revision of plans as a “temporary pause.”

He noted that the deployment of over 4,000 American troops in Europe remains a relevant issue, despite certain adjustments to the timelines.

A wave of discussion was sparked by reports in the American media, which, citing their own sources, announced the cancellation of the deployment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team to Poland.

This unit of the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division comprises over 4,000 service members and was intended to bolster regional security.

As a reminder, the first F-35 fighter jets manufactured by the U.S. for Poland are scheduled to arrive in late May.
