Departure areas at Warsaw Airport partially evacuated over unattended baggage

In Poland, departure areas on the arrivals level at Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport were partially evacuated after unattended baggage was discovered. An explosive ordnance disposal team was sent to inspect the item.

Baggage inspection

As reported by Anadolu Agency, police received a report about the unattended baggage shortly before 19:00 local time. According to TVP World, the evacuation was carried out as a precautionary measure.

The explosive ordnance disposal team was to determine whether the baggage posed a security threat. TVP 3 Warsaw reported that after 20:30 local time, specialists inspected the item and determined that it posed no threat.

Operations resumed

After the inspection was completed, passengers began returning to the terminal and airport operations resumed. This was the second similar incident at Chopin Airport in two weeks. Last Tuesday, the airport was also evacuated because of unattended baggage, which was found not to pose a threat after inspection.
