A lawyer in Zaporizhzhia will face trial for a scheme to evade mobilization
In Zaporizhzhia, an indictment has been filed against a lawyer suspected of organizing a scheme to evade mobilization. According to the prosecutor’s office, he used his professional status to exert unlawful influence and facilitate evasion of conscription.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
It was established that the client approached the lawyer with the intention of changing his place of military registration. In return, the defendant offered, for 20,000 UAH, not only to resolve this issue but also to issue a fake draft notice that could be presented in the event of an inspection by employees of the Territorial Military Commissariat and the Military Registration and Enlistment Office.
Subsequently, the lawyer offered to completely remove the client from military registration as unfit for service for $18,000, which would have allowed him to travel abroad without hindrance.
While receiving the aforementioned funds, the lawyer was detained by law enforcement officers pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
