Hungary has blocked the opening of negotiation clusters for Ukraine for the second time
Hungary has refused for the second time to approve the screening results for negotiation clusters 2 and 3 for Ukraine and Moldova during a meeting of the EU Council’s Working Group on Enlargement (COELA). As a result, consideration of the issue has been postponed until September 1.
According to sources speaking to the publication European Truth, the second attempt to persuade Budapest to support the approval of the screening results, which took place on July 22, ended without success.
“Today, COELA failed for the second time to approve the screening results for clusters No. 2 and No. 3 for Ukraine and Moldova due to Hungary’s reluctance. The issue has been postponed until September,” one of the sources said.
The next meeting of the EU Council’s Working Group on Enlargement is scheduled for September 1, when the issue may be reconsidered.

As a reminder, on July 22, the EU will again attempt to persuade Hungary to open the clusters for Ukraine.
