Hungary has announced the resumption of Russian oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline

Hungary has confirmed the resumption of Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

This was announced by Minister for EU Affairs János Boka.

According to him, oil transportation resumed on April 22 at 11:35 a.m. local time. The oil may arrive in Hungary as early as today or no later than the morning of April 23.

Boka emphasized that the pipeline’s operation is critically important for the country’s energy supply, especially given rising energy prices due to the situation in the Middle East.

He also stated that Hungary seeks to diversify its energy supply sources and routes, viewing this as a guarantee of energy security and stable prices.

Separately, the minister criticized Ukraine, stating that the transit restrictions were politically motivated, and called Budapest’s actions successful.

Russia will halt oil transit to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline starting in May.

Orbán issued an ultimatum to Ukraine regarding oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline.
