UKMTO: IRGC ordered tanker to turn back in the Strait of Hormuz — Anadolu Agency
In a statement released on Monday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) ordered a tanker to turn back while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz in Omani waters. The incident occurred on Sunday 11 nautical miles, or approximately 20 kilometers, north of Khasab. According to the service, the vessel was threatened with an attack if it continued its voyage.
Order to turn back
The tanker was transiting the strait on an inbound course when it was contacted by the IRGC. The force issued an order to turn back, and the captain confirmed that the vessel complied. Anadolu Agency reported the incident, citing UKMTO.

UKMTO said that competent authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The British maritime service also advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity. The UKMTO warning concerned vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz area.
