Ukraine is uncertain about U.S. sanctions on Russian oil — Bloomberg
Ukraine currently has no clear understanding of the United States' next steps regarding sanctions against the Russian energy sector.
Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko stated this in an interview with Bloomberg.
The situation remains uncertain even after Washington officially terminated the temporary exemptions on the purchase of raw materials from Russia.
According to the head of the Ministry of Finance, it is currently difficult to predict the final decisions of the U.S. side on this issue.
Ukrainian authorities are closely monitoring the actions of their strategic partner, but no concrete signals regarding the future course of sanctions have been received yet.
“The U.S. is simply observing how the situation develops,” Marchenko emphasized.
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump had previously introduced temporary waivers allowing the purchase of some Russian oil that had already been loaded onto tankers.
This decision was made against the backdrop of a massive fuel crisis and a protracted war in the Persian Gulf. Last week, this exemption was not extended, which formally reinstated stricter restrictions.
