Ukraine and Lithuania have agreed to jointly manufacture drones
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda signed a strategic agreement on cooperation in the defense sector. Ukraine and Lithuania agreed on a "Drone Deal" framework, which provides for the establishment of joint production facilities for unmanned systems, technology transfer, and the localization of production of long-range strike and maritime drones on Lithuanian territory.
The Ukrainian president announced this on Telegram.
The agreement is based on the principle of reciprocity: a Ukrainian military expert team will work in Lithuania to strengthen the region’s security capabilities against modern threats. In addition to drones, the cooperation will cover the areas of air and missile defense. The leaders also discussed threats from Belarus and Ukraine’s integration into the EU, particularly the need to open all six negotiation clusters.
Earlier, Zelenskyy proposed a drone deal to all partners, which the U.S. rejected.
Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States does not need Ukraine’s help in defending against Iranian drone strikes. He emphasized that American drones are “the best in the world” and their capabilities surpass any others.
