Ukrainian units will participate in the JEF LION exercises in 2026

Ukrainian military units will actively participate in the JEF LION series of exercises, which will take place later this year. 

This is stated in a joint statement by the leaders of the United Expeditionary Forces following the Helsinki summit, published on the website of Finnish President Alexander Stubb on March 26. 

The participants of the meeting, which President Zelenskyy joined remotely, noted progress within the framework of the “Enhanced Partnership” proposed to Ukraine last year in Oslo.

The cooperation involves deepening operational coordination and exchanging tactical experience in the field of modern warfare, including technological innovations and the concept of total defense. JEF leaders confirmed their intention to continue integrating Ukraine into their activities, which brings mutual benefits to all parties in the partnership. Further work will focus on realizing joint opportunities to strengthen security and develop military capabilities within the framework of existing agreements.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to become a full-fledged member of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). Currently, Ukraine holds the status of an enhanced partner in this coalition, but seeks to deepen cooperation and achieve full membership.
