Construction of Trump's son-in-law's resort in Albania to continue despite protests – Reuters

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced his intention to proceed with the luxury resort project planned by Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, on the Balkan coast. The €1.4 billion construction project will proceed despite ongoing mass protests by citizens concerned about the negative environmental impact of the large-scale development.

Thousands of protesters in the capital, Tirana, and along the country’s southern coast are demanding the cancellation of the project, which encroaches on the Vjosa-Narta protected wetlands, home to rare animals and birds.

Inflatable pink flamingos and the slogan “Flamingo Revolution” have become symbols of the environmental movement. Despite this, Rama assured that developers will impress with their plans in the coming months, part of the complex will open by the end of the decade, and the total investment by Kushner’s firm, Affinity Partners, along with a related project on Sazan Island, amounts to 5 billion euros.

This is reported by Reuters.

Kushner, who also serves as Trump’s special envoy, had previously publicly presented plans to transform the site into a large resort with approximately 10,000 hotel rooms

Albania’s Special Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime announced the launch of an investigation into the project.
