Trump threatened Netanyahu with leaving him to face Iran alone
U.S. President Donald Trump shared details of his conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before Israel launched a retaliatory strike against Iran. The American leader warned his counterpart that if the conflict escalated into a full-scale war, Israel risked losing the support of its allies.
According to Trump, he urged Netanyahu to exercise the utmost caution in his actions and initially asked him to refrain from a missile response to Tehran.
Although the Israeli side informed Washington of the attack at a late stage, when the planes were already heading toward their targets, Trump emphasized that he had nevertheless managed to reduce the scale of the strike and buy a few days. The U.S. president also added that after the Iranian side announced through international mediators that it would cease attacks on Israel, he called Netanyahu again and compelled him to halt further attacks, as Washington remains open to a diplomatic resolution and the conclusion of a new agreement with Iran.
