Most of the large-scale wildfires in Turkey have been contained
In Turkey, rescue workers continue to fight wildfires that have spread across several regions of the country. The most critical situation is in the tourist province of Antalya and the province of Çanakkale in the northwest of the country.
Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli, reported that 115 fires have broken out across the country, 110 of which have already been brought under control.
According to him, 69 of the fires reported on Wednesday broke out outside forested areas.
Alanya Sapadere Village has burned completely; the fire is advancing toward the city center.

The General Directorate of Forestry in Turkey reported that firefighters are conducting intensive operations from the air and on the ground, attempting to contain the fires, whose spread is being fueled by strong winds.
Rescue workers are paying particular attention to fires near the following highways:
- Antalya–Alanya;
- Muğla–Fethiye.
Both highways pass through popular resort areas along Turkey’s Mediterranean and Aegean coasts.
Later, Ibrahim Yumakli reported that the large-scale fires in Muğla Province, the Kaş district of Antalya Province, Balıkesir, and Çanakkale are largely under control.

At the same time, the official did not specify the area affected by the fires.
The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that 90 fires broke out across the country in a single day, marking one of the largest outbreaks this summer.
This was reported by Turkish official sources.
Meanwhile, in France, authorities have ordered a new evacuation due to the worsening wildfire situation. Nearly 4,000 people are to be evacuated from the Lacanau area on the Atlantic coast.
In Greece, firefighters have been trying for the second day in a row to contain massive wildfires on the island of Crete. Due to the rapid spread of the fire the day before, local residents and tourists were evacuated from dangerous areas.
