In Bukovina, a man opened fire on police officers and fled into the woods

In the Chernivtsi region, police are conducting a large-scale special operation to locate a man who opened fire on law enforcement officers during an investigation, wounding two of them. The incident occurred on July 28 at approximately 7:45 a.m. in the village of Yizhivtsi, Chernivtsi District.

According to police, officers arrived at the residence of a 54-year-old local resident to conduct authorized investigative actions as part of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

While the officers were carrying out these procedures, the man fired several shots from a hunting rifle at the police officers and then fled toward a forest.

As a result of the armed attack, two law enforcement officers sustained gunshot wounds. The victims were hospitalized and are currently receiving the necessary medical care.

Law enforcement officers have identified the attacker. Valerii Mykolaiovych Miglei, born November 19, 1971, a resident of the village of Yizhivtsi in the Chernivtsi district, is wanted.

The man’s description: of average height and build; he was wearing a black T-shirt and dark shoes.

According to police, the suspect may be armed and pose a serious danger to others.

Law enforcement officials are asking the public not to attempt to apprehend the man on their own. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, please immediately call the emergency hotline at 102 or contact the duty officer at Storozhynets Police Station No. 1.

Urgent investigative and operational search measures are currently underway, and the police will provide further updates on the progress of the investigation.

In Uzhhorod, law enforcement officers detained an armed man who opened fire in the area of the Shakhtynsky Forest. A special police operation involving members of the KORD special forces unit was conducted to locate and detain him.
