In Algeria, body of 10-year-old boy recovered from well after four-day rescue operation
In Algeria, rescuers recovered the body of 10-year-old boy Ayoub from a dry well after he fell into it on Wednesday, September 2, in the village of Rekna in El Bayadh province in the west of the country. The rescue operation lasted four days.
Operation in Rekna
As Anadolu Agency reports, Algeria's Civil Protection service announced the recovery of the boy's body on Saturday, September 5.
Ayoub fell into a dry well in the village of Rekna, which is part of the municipality of Ghasoul in El Bayadh province. The Civil Protection service and local authorities were involved in the operation.

Parallel shaft
Around midnight from Friday to Saturday, rescuers completed the construction of a parallel shaft. After that, a Civil Protection officer descended to begin digging a horizontal tunnel toward the boy.
Additional complications arose during the work. The Civil Protection service said that, together with local authorities, it had mobilized all human and material resources for the operation.
