Antalya to host forensic medicine congress with specialists from 40 countries
The 21st International Congress “Forensic Medicine Days” will take place in Antalya, Türkiye, on September 21–27. Specialists in forensic medicine and criminalistics from Türkiye and 40 other countries are expected to participate in the event. The congress is organized by Türkiye’s Council of Forensic Medicine.
Scientists, representatives of the judiciary, senior officials and international organizations are expected to attend. According to Anadolu Agency, as of the time of reporting, 831 people from five continents — Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas — had registered to participate.
Congress topics
Participants will discuss the use of artificial intelligence in forensic sciences, digital evidence and digital forensics, deepfake technologies, new psychoactive substances and countering drugs. The program also includes forensic DNA testing and next-generation sequencing technologies.
Other topics include identification during mass disasters, human rights, medical professional negligence, disability assessment, road accidents and autonomous vehicles, forensic psychiatry, expert assessment of children, forensic pathology, radiology and virtual autopsy. Quality control, standardization and international cooperation will be considered separately.

Program and participants
Hızır Aslıyüksek, head of Türkiye’s Council of Forensic Medicine, said that the main theme of this year’s congress is “Addiction and Expert Opinions in the World.” According to him, this is linked to the growing role of forensic institutions in combating drug-related crimes.
The seven-day event’s program includes 28 sessions featuring 127 Turkish and 48 foreign speakers. According to Aslıyüksek, 125 panelists will discuss the latest developments in the field. He called the upcoming forum the largest congress held by Türkiye in the fields of forensic medicine and criminalistics.
Representatives of Türkiye’s high courts, universities, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, the Ministry of Health, and police and gendarmerie forensic units are also expected to join the event.
