Two police officers die in separate incidents in Attock — Dawn
Two police officers deployed to Pakistan’s Attock district in connection with the PTI party’s protest march died in two separate incidents, Dawn reports.
Death at checkpoint and drowning
According to police and hospital officials, Counter Terrorism Department officer Zulfiqar Ali from Dera Ghazi Khan died of cardiac arrest. He was on duty at the Jari Kass checkpoint on the Hasan Abdal–Haripur road, near the border with the Hazara region.
Separately, Constable Zain Abbas Bosal from Mandi Bahauddin drowned in the Ghazi-Barotha water canal. He had been deployed to the Kotkai bridge on the M-1 motorway between Islamabad and Peshawar. According to police, he went to get drinking water, slipped, fell into the canal and drowned. As of Saturday evening, the police officer’s body had not been found.

Barricades at entrances to Punjab
Barricades and containers were installed at entrances from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to Punjab. They were placed, in particular, on the M-1 motorway near the Chachh, Burhan and Brahma-Bhattar interchanges, as well as on the N-5 Grand Trunk Road in Attock Khurd.
Later that day, two children died in the village of Sakkaabad, within the jurisdiction of Attock police: eight-year-old Ashar Ali and five-year-old Nailian Zahura. According to police and rescue workers, they were digging a soil embankment that collapsed on them. The children were taken to the district hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.
