In Australia, Darryl Young appeals conviction and sentence for triple murder
In Australia, 63-year-old Darryl Velroy Young has filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal against his conviction and sentence in the Bogie triple murder case.
Verdict in the case
Last week, a jury found Young guilty of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. The four-week trial in the Supreme Court in Townsville concerned events in 2022 near the gates of his cattle station.

During the hearings, the court heard that Young shot four neighbours: three of them died, while one person survived. Young was a cattle farmer and a coal industry worker in Queensland.
Sentence imposed
On Monday, Justice Christopher Johnston sentenced Young to three life terms for the murders and set a 40-year non-parole period. According to ABC News Australia, the sentence imposed by Johnston is considered the longest ever handed down in Queensland.
