Body found after house fire in Australia — ABC News Australia
In Bellbird Park, west of Brisbane, Australia, a body was found after a fire at a two-storey house. Queensland Police are treating the blaze as suspicious following reports from local residents of a petrol smell.
The house was engulfed in flames
As ABC News reports, emergency services were called to Werran Street at about 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. By the time services arrived, the building was already completely engulfed in flames, and it took several hours to extinguish the fire.
A man aged about 30 was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition. He sustained minor burns and smoke inhalation. A Queensland Ambulance Service representative said paramedics left the scene unaware that another person remained in the house.

Police are seeking camera footage
Overnight, law enforcement officers declared the site a crime scene because it was unsafe to enter the house. According to Queensland Police Southern Region Assistant Commissioner Matthew Vanderbyl, the upper floor of the house collapsed onto the rest of the structure. In the morning, human remains were found on the upper floor.
The gender of the deceased person has not yet been disclosed. Police must establish their identity and notify the family. According to Vanderbyl, the house was reportedly vacated several weeks ago, but the circumstances in which it became empty are still being investigated.
Police appealed to residents of nearby streets to provide CCTV footage. Law enforcement officers said reports of a petrol smell in the area heightened their suspicions about the cause of the fire.
