In Estonia, drivers buy less fuel per fill-up — ERR News
In Estonia, drivers have begun buying smaller volumes of fuel during each fill-up, hoping that the price will be lower next time. At the same time, the total number of trips has not decreased significantly, while motorists are visiting filling stations more often.
ERR News reports, citing data from fuel retailers. Alexela Business Development Manager Tarmo Kärsna noted that prices in recent weeks have been higher than in August. According to him, people generally do not give up necessary trips, but refuel for smaller amounts.
Drivers are not keeping their tanks full
Circle K Motor Fuel Sales Director Raimo Vahtrik stated that consumer spending on fuel in monetary terms has increased due to higher prices. At the same time, consumption in liters is generally similar to last year's figures or slightly lower, but customers have begun refueling more often.

According to Vahtrik, drivers do not fill their tanks completely, expecting prices to fall the next day. The average amount of a single fuel purchase is about €50: at current prices, this is enough for approximately 22–23 liters, whereas during the same period last year, nearly 30 liters could be bought for that amount.
Retailers do not expect a rapid price decline
Fuel companies do not forecast a rapid decline in prices. Kärsna linked high prices to shrinking inventories and the approaching heating season, noting that diesel fuel is the greatest concern, both in Europe and globally.
SEB economic analyst Mihkel Nestor stressed that rising diesel prices could increase transport costs and affect the prices of goods and services, as most freight is transported by diesel vehicles.
