In Italy, the band 1914 was fined for collecting donations for the Armed Forces
In Italy, the financial police fined the Ukrainian band 1914 €4,800. The reason was the donations the musicians collected for the Armed Forces during their European tour, *The War That Never Ends*.
According to reports, the cash was kept in a box, which became the basis for complaints from regulatory authorities.
This was reported on their Facebook page.
According to the band, the police inspected them as they were leaving the country. The inspection process proceeded as if “we were some kind of criminal elite.”
“We were carrying cash donations for the army—funds collected during the tour. And the officers didn’t like that, since the cash was kept in a single box. Although we did not exceed the declaration limits per person and did not violate any laws, the Italian Guardia di Finanza saw it differently and fined both us and the donations,” the statement reads.
The 1914 team says they had never encountered anything like this before. They explained to law enforcement what the money was intended for and also consulted a lawyer, “but that didn’t help much.”
“Even explaining that this money was intended for drones, medical supplies, or a vehicle didn’t change anything. We hope that the 4,800 euros the Guardia di Finanza took from us will help them confidently continue their work and find satisfaction. But I want you to know—your people are absolutely wrong,” the band added.
1914 is a Lviv-based black death metal band founded by Dmytro Kumar in 2014. Since late March, they have been touring as part of The War That Never Ends.
