Italy will host the world's first Tiramisu Run, featuring a tiramisu tasting
The Italian city of Treviso, considered the birthplace of tiramisu, will host the first Tiramisu Run on October 11, 2026.
The Tiramisu Run is part of the 2026 Treviso Half Marathon and covers a distance of 10.1 km.
The route will follow a flat and scenic path through the historic city center—past rivers, canals, and central squares.
The start and finish are scheduled near the medieval city walls on Viale Bartolomeo d’Alviano.
The event will be held in a recreational format without competitive elements—official results for participants will not be recorded. Both runners and those planning to walk the course are welcome to participate. The age limit is 16 and up; no medical certificate is required. Participation is limited to 1,000 people.
The main highlight of the event will be that participants will be able to enjoy an unlimited amount of tiramisu after crossing the finish line.
The organizers are combining a sporting and gastronomic format, highlighting the region’s culinary heritage.
The modern version of tiramisu likely originated in Treviso, where it was created in the 1960s at the restaurant Le Beccherie. According to a widely accepted account, pastry chef Roberto Linguanotto, together with an apprentice, combined coffee-soaked savoiardi cookies with mascarpone cream.
The name of the dessert translates as “pick me up,” which is associated with the invigorating effects of coffee and cocoa.
In addition to the race, the city is preparing other events. In particular, from October 9 to 11, the Tiramisu World Cup international competition will take place, where pastry chefs and amateurs from around the world will compete for the title of best master.
Tastings and master classes will be held in the main square, Piazza dei Signori, which traditionally attract thousands of visitors.
