In Israel, lawmaker Kariv calls for Netanyahu’s removal as prime minister
In Israel, Gilad Kariv, a lawmaker from the opposition Democrats party, called for Benjamin Netanyahu to be removed from the post of prime minister. He described this as an existential need for Israeli society, Anadolu Agency reports.
Criticism of investigations into the events of October 7
Kariv published a statement on the social media platform X, criticizing Netanyahu’s response to Israeli army investigations into the events of October 7, 2023. According to the lawmaker, after that date, the prime minister did not visit kibbutzim in areas around Gaza for months and is also avoiding consideration of the army’s investigations into what happened.
The opposition politician said that Netanyahu had repeatedly neglected Israel’s security and demonstrated complete incompetence in managing national security. Kariv also said that such a person should not make decisions about the future of the country and its children.

Commission and upcoming elections
Opposition parties and a significant part of Israeli society are demanding the establishment of a state commission to investigate the failures linked to Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023. Netanyahu’s government rejected this mechanism, preferring a politically appointed group.
Knesset elections are scheduled for October 27. As the agency notes, Netanyahu and his Likud party are losing ground in opinion polls. Netanyahu’s trial on corruption charges is also ongoing, while the International Criminal Court is seeking him on accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
