In Israel, Knesset member Busso says Shas and Likud will cooperate — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, Shas Knesset member Uriel Busso said that Shas and Likud intend to continue their cooperation in the next parliamentary term after the elections scheduled for the end of next month. He said this in an interview with 103FM radio station, The Jerusalem Post reports.
According to Busso, Shas has not boycotted anyone, while the media, in his view, are trying to create sensationalism and controversy. He stressed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sets the guidelines which, he said, are appropriate for a values-based Zionist government, and Shas is part of such a government.
March in Bnei Brak
Busso also commented on a march held on Sunday in Bnei Brak against the detention of people described by the source as draft evaders who were heading abroad. The lawmaker said that these people also oppose the Haredi parties, himself personally, and other representatives of these political forces.
He described the participants in the rally as not being the main part of the Haredi community. According to Busso, the protest began with several hundred people, while the large number of people present on the streets of Bnei Brak did not necessarily indicate support for the content or purpose of the march.

Busso added that city residents take to the streets during various processions, so their presence should not automatically be interpreted as solidarity with the protesters.
Position on conscription
The lawmaker said that the status of those who are genuinely studying should be regulated. According to him, a person is part of a yeshiva, studies properly, and the yeshiva itself assumes responsibility for this.
Busso also said that rabbis are concerned that a person who enters the army should leave it the same as they were before service.
Separately, he spoke about Shas chairman Aryeh Deri, who is not at the center of the election campaign. Busso said that Deri had done more for Torah scholars than anyone else during the last term and had also, in his assessment, been the most responsible person throughout the war.
