Israel honors organizations and activists for civil cooperation under Abraham Accords — Jerusalem Post

In Israel, the Israel Ambassadors Club honored organizations and representatives of initiatives that develop civil cooperation in the region under the principles of the Abraham Accords. The event, titled “Voices from the Ground,” took place on Saturday evening with the participation of dozens of ambassadors and diplomats, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Cooperation between communities and businesses

The event was held in partnership with the Israel-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ViaCity — the Center for Urban Diplomacy. Its participants focused on projects that connect communities, local governments, businesses, and religious leaders.

Among those honored were ViaCity co-founders Moran Burshtein and Einat Levi. The organization helps local authorities develop international partnerships, including ties between Israeli and Moroccan municipalities. Professor Daniel Ruach, vice president of the Israel-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was awarded for the chamber’s work to strengthen business ties between the two countries.

Interfaith and youth projects

Rabbi Dr. Yaakov Nagen and Rabbi Dr. Aaron Ariel Lavi, president and CEO of the Jerusalem Interfaith Center, also received awards. The center brings together religious leaders, researchers, educators, and civil society representatives from Israel, the Middle East, and other countries to develop interfaith cooperation.

The club also honored WeAreMENA founder and executive director Tom Wiesel for the work of the network, which builds connections between young people and community leaders in the Middle East and North Africa. Stav Bar-Shani, co-creator of Women Champions for Change, was awarded for bringing together women who lead social change in the region.

The Abraham Accords, brokered by the United States, established diplomatic relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain in September 2020. Later that year, Morocco agreed to normalize relations with Israel. Moroccan musician Anas Belhachmi and Israeli musician Eilon Berger also performed during the evening.
