A helicopter made a hard landing on Sakhalin, Russia. On board were crew members, election commission officials, and film crews from regional television stations.
Details regarding the location and circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.
“We made a hard landing,” said one of the aircraft’s passengers.
According to preliminary reports, the helicopter was on a flight to transport members of the election commission to remote areas where early voting was to be organized.
Journalists from regional television stations were also on board.
According to Russian media reports, there were no serious injuries resulting from the hard landing. However, several people sought medical attention for bruises and contusions.
After the incident, firefighters, rescue workers, and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene.
Technical experts have already begun investigating the exact causes of the helicopter’s hard landing.
The aircraft belongs to Khabarovsk Aviation Squadron No. 11. According to preliminary information, it was provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense to support the elections.
Information regarding the helicopter’s technical condition and the final circumstances of the incident is still being clarified.
As a reminder, a Cessna 182 aircraft that had gone missing during a flight was previously found in Russia’s Irkutsk Region.
The pilots reestablished contact only two days later and reported that they were approximately 100 km from Bodaybo.
According to them, they managed to land the plane under difficult conditions at an altitude of about 1,500 meters. After landing, the crew remained out of contact and waited for help.
Earlier, in the Italian region of Calabria, wreckage was found from an ultralight aircraft that went missing on Sunday. The bodies of the two people who were on board have already been identified.
A small private helicopter crashed on the Greek island of Sifnos in the Aegean Sea. All three people on board were killed in the crash.
