Armenia has learned who its citizens will be voting for

The results of a new opinion poll on voters’ attitudes ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7 have been released in Armenia. The data was presented by Aram Navasardyan, director of MPG, a member of the GALLUP International Association in Armenia, who also reported on voters’ readiness to participate in the election.

 

When asked which party or bloc they would vote for in the June 7 elections to the National Assembly of Armenia, respondents’ answers were distributed as follows:

– 32.4% – for the ruling “Civic Contract” party –
16.4% – for the “Strong Armenia” bloc –
15.2% – for the “Armenia” bloc –
8.8% – for the “Prosperous Armenia” party –
6.2% – for the “Wings of Unity” party

According to Navasardyan, these are the political forces that, based on the poll results, will enter parliament. He noted that the combined result of the four opposition forces is 46.6%, which is approximately 15% higher than that of the ruling “Civic Contract” party.

He also noted that two other forces retain the potential to enter parliament: the “Democracy, Law and Discipline (abbreviated as DOK)—3.2%—and “Enlightened Armenia”—3.1%.

According to the poll, the “New Force” party received 2.1%, “Me Against All” – 2%, the “Republic” party – 1.5%, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) – 0.3%, the “In the Name of the Republic – Defenders of Democracy” party – 0.2%, the Christian Democratic Party – 0.1%, the “Democratic Union” party – 0.1%, the “Kochari – National Revival and Awakening of the Nation” party – 0.1%, “National Democratic Pole” – 0.1%.

2.1% of respondents found it difficult to answer the question, and 4.2% refused to answer.

The telephone survey was conducted on June 2–3, with 1,104 citizens participating, according to Panorama.am.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the country could withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) if it deems it necessary.

Earlier, Belarus’s self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko called on the Collective Security Treaty Organization to be more diplomatic in its relations with Yerevan.

Yerevan has stated that it may resort to tough measures if the price of Russian gas rises. Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan noted that the country would consider withdrawing from the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) if Russia takes such a step.

Armenia has appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.

The Armenian opposition proposed creating a “Ministry of Sex” to promote women’s happiness.

According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, the launch of the TRIPP route between the U.S. and Armenia diminishes Russia’s role as the main player in the South Caucasus. The new corridor will connect Asia and Europe via Armenia and Azerbaijan without Moscow’s involvement.
