Explosion in a minibus near Damascus: two dead and 13 injured
In the Syrian city of Jaramanah, a suburb of Damascus, an explosive device planted inside a minibus detonated. At least two people were killed and 13 others were injured, France 24 reports, citing the Syrian Ministry of Health.
According to preliminary reports from Syrian state television, the explosion was caused by a bomb planted inside the vehicle. At the scene, the minibus’s roof had been blown off, the chassis was damaged from the inside, and debris was scattered across the road.
An AFP photographer saw several ambulances heading toward the site of the explosion. One of Jaramanah’s main thoroughfares was closed to traffic. The Ministry of Health had previously stated that forensic teams were identifying and processing human remains.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion. Jaramanah is a city home to Druze and Christians; in the spring of 2025, it was affected by interfaith violence.
Following the overthrow of longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, Syria’s new Islamist government has been attempting to establish full control and restore security. At the same time, attacks and incidents targeting civilians and security forces have occurred in Damascus and the capital’s suburbs.
Among the recent attacks was the detonation of two improvised explosive devices during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Damascus last month: one person was killed and 36 others were wounded. Syrian officials have announced the arrest of a cell linked to the “Islamic State” group, which they say was responsible for those explosions.
