Video: Poland Holds the Largest Military Parade in the Country's History

On August 15, Warsaw hosted the largest military parade in the history of modern Poland, held in honor of Polish Armed Forces Day. This large-scale demonstration of military strength was one of the main events of the national holiday.

Saturday’s display of Poland’s military capabilities on land, at sea, and in the air took place on Polish Armed Forces Day, which marks the anniversary of Poland’s decisive victory over the Soviet Union in the Battle of Warsaw in 1920.

The parade in Warsaw began at noon, when more than 60 military aircraft flew over the Polish capital.

Among the military equipment showcased on Saturday was the American-designed F-35 fighter jet.

This advanced military aircraft is one of the newest additions to the Polish Army’s arsenal: the first three F-35s arrived in the country back in May as part of a $4.6 billion order for 32 such aircraft.

A militarynaval parade featuring more than 20 ships, including vessels from allied nations, was held near the cities of Gdynia and Gdańsk on Poland’s northern Baltic Sea coast in the presence of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

“On this day, we always remember and pay tribute to all the heroes of our history... soldiers, pilots, and here in Gdynia, especially sailors. Without their sacrifice, without their dedication, Poland would not be a free, sovereign state today,” Tusk said.

He added that “only those who are strong, well-prepared, truly independent, and sovereign will avoid war.”

It is noted that Poland has carried out one of the fastest military modernizations in Europe since the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

For example, Warsaw has ordered 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters from the U.S., is introducing F-35 stealth fighters into service, and has just launched the frigate Wicher.

The country has also ordered Swedish A26 Blekinge-class submarines, which are among the most advanced non-nuclear vessels in Europe.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Armed Forces congratulated Poland on Polish Armed Forces Day.

August 15 marks Polish Armed Forces Day in Poland—one of the country’s major national holidays tied to its military history. The date commemorates the Polish Army’s victory in the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, which marked a turning point in the Polish-Bolshevik War.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi congratulated the Polish people on Polish Armed Forces Day and thanked the allies for their support. The Ukrainian general recorded his message in Polish.
