Pakistan’s military says 11 militants killed in Balochistan
Pakistan’s security forces said they killed 11 militants during two intelligence-based operations in the Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan province. According to the military, 2.9 tonnes of explosives used to make improvised explosive devices were also seized during the operations.
As Dawn reports, the operations in Kharan and Washuk took place on September 6 and 7, respectively. Their results were announced by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military’s media relations wing.
Operation in Kharan
According to the ISPR, on Sunday, militants attempted to set up a checkpoint in the Kharan district and obstructed local traffic. Security forces intercepted them and engaged in a firefight, resulting in the deaths of eight militants, according to the military’s statement.

Pakistan’s military described these individuals as linked to the so-called Fitna al Hindustan. Pakistani authorities use this term to refer to India’s alleged role in terrorism and destabilising the country. Claims that India supports militants represent the Pakistani side’s position.
Operation in Washuk
The second operation, described by the ISPR as planned, was conducted in the Washuk district on Monday following reports of militants’ presence. The military said it discovered a militant hideout and that, after an intense exchange of fire, three more people whom the ISPR called militants were killed.
The ISPR said search operations are continuing in the area. The agency also stated that security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue the Azm-i-Istehkam counterterrorism campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under Pakistan’s National Action Plan.
