Armenia decided to blackmail the Kremlin by withdrawing from the CSTO

Officials in Yerevan have stated that they may take tough measures if the price of Russian gas rises. Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan noted that the country would consider withdrawing from the CSTO and the EAEU if Russia were to take such a step.

This was reported with reference to NEWS.am.

According to reports, Simonyan made these remarks on April 4 during a briefing ahead of an extraordinary meeting of the “Civic Contract” party, commenting on the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the speaker of parliament, such discussions between the parties are not new, and issues regarding gas prices or other goods have been under discussion for many years.

Simonyan stated that if a corresponding decision is made, Armenia “will make its own decision” and withdraw from both the CSTO and the EAEU.

At the same time, he emphasized that he does not believe it will come to that, since a “very good, productive, and fruitful conversation” took place between the leaders of the two countries afterward.

According to him, during his contacts with the Russian side, the Armenian prime minister articulated Yerevan’s position, and the assessments that have appeared online regarding this generally align with his vision.

"We have done nothing against Russia, are doing nothing, and will do nothing, but at the same time we will defend the interests of the Republic of Armenia," the speaker of parliament emphasized.

Armenia has appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.

The Armenian opposition has proposed creating a “Ministry of Sex” to promote women’s happiness.

According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, the launch of the TRIPP route between the U.S. and Armenia diminishes Russia’s role as the main player in the South Caucasus. The new corridor will connect Asia and Europe via Armenia and Azerbaijan without Moscow’s involvement.

The Speaker of theArmenian Parliament spoke out sharply against Russian propagandists.
