Vice President Shettima returns to Nigeria after African Union summit

Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after participating in the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Luanda, Angola.

Nigeria’s representation

At the high-level summit, Shettima represented Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The session was attended by heads of state and government of the African Union. The vice president returned to Abuja after completing his engagements in Angola.

Nigeria’s position

At the summit, Nigeria called for strengthening conflict prevention and resolution mechanisms under African leadership. The country also called for urgent continent-wide action regarding recurring xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against Africans and people of other nationalities in South Africa.
