U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has postponed his trip to Islamabad, where the second round of peace talks with Iran was scheduled to take place. He is currently remaining in Washington to participate in additional White House meetings.

CNN reports this, noting that the main reason for the uncertainty is the lack of confirmation of the Iranian delegation’s participation in the summit.

The current ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran expires at 4:50 a.m. local time on April 22, 2026. Pakistani Information Minister Attullah Tarar confirmed that Tehran has not yet responded, despite Islamabad’s efforts to act as a mediator. Earlier, Donald Trump called an extension of the ceasefire “unlikely,” while the Iranian side declared its readiness to resume hostilities. While diplomats are trying to salvage the negotiation process, Israel is already preparing for an immediate resumption of war in the region, considering the chances of success for American diplomacy to be minimal. The situation remains critical, as there are only a few hours left before the ceasefire expires.
