Raqqa authorities urge residents to stay indoors amid Syrian army advance
Authorities in Syria’s Raqqa governorate have urged residents to remain inside their homes as government forces continue advancing into areas previously controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces.
Syria’s Interior Ministry said its units had begun deploying in the town of Tabqa after the Syrian army expelled what it described as “militias of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party”.
State media reported that government forces had taken control of the city of Tabqa, the nearby Euphrates dam and the Freedom Dam, formerly known as the Baath Dam, west of Raqqa.
These claims could not be independently verified. The situation in the region remains tense as military operations continue.
