Wizz Air clarified its statement regarding the "resumption of flights to Ukraine"

Wizz Air has clarified its widely publicized announcement regarding alleged preparations to resume flights to Ukraine, which sparked a wave of questions among users.

As it turned out, the announcement was not about launching flights, but about a recruitment campaign.

The company published an announcement inviting people to events in European cities:

  • Berlin — April 16
  • Prague — April 17
  • Krakow — April 22
  • Warsaw — April 23

The text noted that the company “is happily preparing to resume flights to Ukraine.” It was precisely this wording that many interpreted as a signal that flights would return soon.

Wizz Air explained that the campaign was aimed exclusively at hiring Ukrainians.

“The sole purpose of this campaign was to promote career opportunities at Wizz Air for Ukrainian citizens,” the company stated.

They added that they did not intend to create the impression of an imminent resumption of air service.

At the same time, the carrier confirmed that it plans to return to the Ukrainian market as soon as possible.

“We aim to be one of the first airlines to return to Ukraine as soon as circumstances allow,” the company emphasized in its response.

For now, however, due to the war and the closed airspace, resuming flights remains impossible.

The company also acknowledged that the wording of the announcement was unfortunate and led to misinterpretation.

Prior to this, the Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air announced new flights from the Romanian airport of Cluj-Napoca to two popular beach destinations for the summer of 2026.

Earlier, popular European low-cost carriers began announcing their flight plans for 2026—and for passengers, this means both new opportunities and losses.
