The riots in Britain have led to further arrests
In the United Kingdom, police have filed new charges against several participants in the mass riots in Southampton that broke out following protests over a student’s death. Some of those arrested are already in custody awaiting trial.
An investigation is ongoing in the UK into the mass riots in Southampton, where, following protests that began over the killing of student Henry Novak, the situation spiraled out of control and escalated into clashes with police. According to Hampshire Police, on Saturday, June 6, several more individuals were formally charged with involvement in the mass riots that occurred earlier in the week.
Law enforcement officials specified that six people are currently facing charges in the case, and all of them remain in custody pending their court appearance. “All those arrested are in custody and are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court,” the Hampshire Police stated.
The riots began on the evening of June 2, when peaceful protests quickly escalated into violent clashes with law enforcement, leading to a large-scale police operation and subsequent arrests.
The case is being heard in court, and police continue to identify all those involved in the events that took place in the city amid social tensions following the student’s death. This was reported by Sky News.
