The drone shot down by NATO fighter jets in Lithuania turned out to be a Russian "Gerbera"

The drone shot down in Lithuanian airspace on the night of September 14 was identified as a Russian “Gerbera”-type drone. This was announced by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda. Experts are currently examining the drone’s electronic components to recover data on its route and the circumstances of the flight.

According to the Lithuanian leader, the drone was not intentionally directed against Lithuania. Most likely, it was intended to strike Ukraine but veered off course due to Ukrainian electronic warfare measures.

Gitanas Nausėda emphasized the need to strengthen air defense and find alternative means of neutralizing short-range drones, aside from missiles. He also called for improved threat detection while drones are still over the territory of neighboring countries to enable a more rapid response.
