Zelenskyy and the British Prime Minister visited a Ukrainian mine-hunting ship in Portsmouth
During a visit to the Portsmouth Naval Base on July 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with the new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, boarded the Ukrainian minesweeper *Cherkasy*.
Transferred by the UK in January 2023, the vessel is one of five Ukrainian minesweepers currently stationed at this base.
In addition to the “Cherkasy,” the ships “Melitopol,” “Mariupol,” “Henichesk,” and “Chernihiv” are also stationed in Portsmouth. All of them will remain in the UK until the end of the war, after which they will be deployed to clear mines in the Black Sea. During the visit, the leaders of the two countries spoke with Ukrainian and British sailors who are participating in joint training as part of the annual Sea Breeze international exercises, and the President thanked the partners for their support of Ukraine as a maritime nation.
On July 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the United Kingdom, where he will hold a series of meetings with British officials and Ukrainian military personnel.
