Journalist in China claims US funds groups separatists — ECNS
In China, ECNS published a video in which American journalist Jason Smith said that the US government allegedly funds groups seeking to separate Xizang and Xinjiang from China.
The journalist’s claims
In an episode of the News Lounge program, Smith linked the spread in the West of reports about the oppression of Tibetans and Uyghurs to attempts, as he put it, to weaken China and its internal unity. He also claimed that US authorities allegedly bribed certain scholars to fabricate false claims.

Assessment of information in the West
The journalist said that people who visit Xizang and Xinjiang on their own will be able to verify the information they have heard in the West. In his assessment, 99% of what is said in the West about these places does not correspond to reality. ECNS presented these claims as Smith’s own position; the material provides no evidence to support his statements about the actions of the US government.
