Maksim Pokrovsky, the leader of the Russian band “Nogu Svelo!”—who openly condemns Russia’s aggression and supports Ukraine—visited Kyiv for the first time in several years. On the night of August 5, the musician, along with Kyiv residents, experienced a massive Russian missile and drone attack and shared his thoughts on social media.
“Hi, this is my first morning in Kyiv—my first in about 15 years, maybe even longer. And yesterday was, of course, my first night here. It wasn’t a good one. There was a very serious attack involving both ballistic missiles and drones. We’ll tell you what we can,” the artist told his followers.
The second part of the video was filmed at night. An air raid siren can be heard. Pokrovsky and his companion—apparently also a Russian—are “learning Ukrainian on the fly” as they read news reports about the strikes.
At the start of a new wave of attacks, after an explosion, the men finally took shelter.
