In the United States, singer Lionel Richie is recovering after a heart procedure to treat atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder. A representative for the musician told Rolling Stone that the procedure was successful and that Richie is feeling well, will take a break and return to the stage soon.
Cancelled concerts
According to People, Richie’s three upcoming concerts with Earth, Wind and Fire have been cancelled: on September 26 in San Francisco, on September 30 in Chicago and on October 2 in Columbus, Ohio. These performances had previously already been postponed.
The concerts in Chicago and Columbus were postponed after the singer felt unwell during a performance in St. Paul, Minnesota. He ended the concert early, telling the audience that he felt dizzy, and sat down while performing Dancing on the Ceiling.

Hospitalization after the show
At the end of August, Richie was also hospitalized after a concert in St. Louis. During the final song, All Night Long, he asked his team to bring a chair so he could continue performing while seated. At the time, a source close to his touring team told the publication that the artist was fine.
Richie is scheduled to return to the stage on October 14, when his Las Vegas concert residency, planned through November, is set to begin.
