Agricultural product prices in Cyprus rose 3.5% despite decline in EU
In Cyprus, agricultural product prices rose by 3.5% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026. This was the third-highest figure among European Union countries, Cyprus Mail reports, citing Eurostat data.
Dynamics of agricultural product prices
On average, agricultural product prices in the EU decreased by 5.8% during this period compared with the second quarter of 2025. According to Eurostat, this marked the third consecutive quarter of falling agricultural product prices in the European Union.
Only Croatia and Malta recorded higher growth rates than Cyprus, with prices rising by 3.9% in both countries. Overall, annual growth in agricultural product prices was registered in only seven EU member states.
Prices declined in 20 EU countries. The largest drop was recorded in Denmark, at 17.2%, and in Ireland, at 16.2%. The figure fell by 14.5% in Latvia and Estonia, and by 14.2% in Luxembourg and Lithuania.

Prices of production inputs
At the same time, prices for inputs used in agricultural production increased in all EU countries. Such inputs include energy, fertilisers and animal feed, among other items; these are goods and services consumed in production and not related to investment.
On average across the EU, prices for these inputs increased by 4.7% year-on-year. The most significant increases were recorded in Lithuania, at 16.4%, Romania, at 11.7%, and Latvia, at 9.7%.
The lowest rates of growth in production input prices were in Hungary and Portugal, at 1.2% each. In Malta, they increased by 1.5%. The data compare the second quarter of 2026 with the corresponding period of 2025.
