Grapes Have Flooded Kyiv's Markets: How Much Do Seasonal Fruits and Berries Cost?

At Kyiv’s food markets in early fall, grapes are the top-selling item. Depending on the variety and the seller, the price is usually 90–120 UAH per kilogram, although you can find cheaper grapes for about 60 UAH or more expensive ones for 150–200 UAH per kilogram.

Other popular fruits include peaches and plums. Peaches are generally sold for 80–100 UAH per kilogram, though in some places the price reaches 130 UAH. Plums are significantly cheaper—about 25–30 UAH per kilogram. Nectarines cost about 120–130 UAH per kilogram, while apricots have almost disappeared from the market.

Watermelons and cantaloupes are also still available at the markets. Watermelons cost about 15 UAH per kilogram, and cantaloupes—20 UAH. Some vendors have already started offering pumpkins as well.

Although the berry season has ended, in some places you can still buy raspberries for 220 UAH per kilogram and blueberries for 220–230 UAH. Strawberries cost about 150 UAH per kilogram, and sweet cherries—about 100 UAH per kilogram.

At the same time, vendors note that late-season berries are noticeably inferior to summer berries in terms of appearance and juiciness.
