Autumn rice harvest begins in China’s Heilongjiang province

The autumn rice harvest has begun in Heilongjiang province in northeastern China. According to ECNS, Jiangchuan, a state-owned agricultural company that is part of the Beidahuang Group, began harvesting and drying rice on Tuesday.

The company plans to capitalize on the sales period ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s National Day. The volume of advance rice orders has already exceeded 100 metric tons.

Rice festival in Wuchang

On Sunday, the fifth rice harvest festival began in the Korean ethnic township of Minle, which is part of Wuchang City in Harbin. Rice buyers from different regions of the country, tourists and industry representatives gathered in the fields to watch the harvest of Wuchang rice.

Several strategic cooperation and online sales agreements were signed during the event. Online sales of freshly harvested rice exceeded 10 million yuan, or about $1.5 million.

Rice harvesting and drying

At the Puyang farm of the Beidahuang Group, farmers are organizing the harvesting and drying of the crop in stages. This approach allows the rice to naturally lose moisture directly in the field. According to ECNS, this improves rice quality and reduces the risks of lodging and grain losses caused by autumn rains and strong winds. Agricultural technicians also conduct training and provide recommendations on carrying out the work.
