In Maoming, China, the longan harvest increased by about 15%
The longan harvest season has come to an end in Maoming, Guangdong Province, in southern China. This year’s total harvest increased by approximately 15%, according to the Maoming Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as reported by ECNS.
The area under longan cultivation in Maoming totals 52,026 hectares. The region grows, in particular, the Chulian, Xixia, Shuangzimu, Dawayuan, and Gushan No. 2 varieties. The Chulian variety accounts for 60% of the plantations and is the main longan export variety from Maoming.

According to city agricultural authorities, sales volumes were high and prices remained stable at the beginning and middle of the season. Toward the end of the season, prices began to rise again. At the end of June, the highest purchase prices for the Xixia variety of longan ranged from 16 to 29 yuan per kilogram.
In early July, freshly harvested Chulyang longan was purchased at 14–24 yuan per kilogram. From early August until the end of the harvest, purchase prices remained at 13–20 yuan per kilogram. According to customs statistics, the Maoming Customs Office monitored the export of 31.4 metric tons of longan, priced at approximately 22 yuan per kilogram. Premium Chulian-grade longan also maintained a price premium, which, according to the source, supported producers’ incomes.
