Agricultural exports from Ukraine fell by 57%

During the first 13 days of August, Ukraine exported 790.7 thousand metric tons of agricultural products—57.2% less than during the same period in July. At the same time, the value of exports fell by 37.3% to $478.8 million.

The main reason was a sharp drop in grain exports. At the same time, logistics began to shift from seaports to land routes.

During this period, 130,100 metric tons of agricultural products were exported via road border crossings—an 8.9% increase compared to July. The largest increases in shipments were recorded through Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania.

Rail exports of grain and milled products fell by 72% to 201.7 thousand metric tons. At the same time, 126.4 thousand metric tons were transported via rail overland crossings, compared to 70.1 thousand metric tons in July.

The sharpest decline was seen in shipments to the ports of Greater Odesa—down 88.5% to 75.2 thousand metric tons. The average daily unloading of grain in the region fell to 146 railcars.

The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (VAR) has appealed to Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, urging him to take immediate measures to resolve the issue of blocked seaports. The association warns that a further deterioration of the situation could lead to mass bankruptcies of agricultural enterprises and a large-scale crisis in one of the key sectors of the Ukrainian economy.

As a reminder, the first civilian air defense units have begun operations at Ukrainian seaports and railway infrastructure facilities.
