41 British MPs have called on Starmer to resign — Sky News
A total of 41 Labour Party MPs have publicly called on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down as party leader.
This is according to an analysis by Sky News.
The latest to join this call was Catherine McInnell, MP for Newcastle North, who stated that the party needs a new leader before the end of the current term and the next election.
Earlier, MP Catherine West declined to make an immediate attempt to challenge Starmer’s leadership but called on him to resign by September.
She is also collecting signatures among MPs to initiate the process of changing the party leader.
At least 81 Labour MPs are needed to trigger the formal process.
Earlier, Starmer spoke of growing tensions in relations with the U.S.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which they discussed increasing pressure on the aggressor. The leaders paid particular attention to the fight against the Russian shadow fleet and London’s contributions to the PURL program to strengthen the Ukrainian army.
