An American veteran staged a protest outside the Russian Embassy in Washington – video
A large-scale rally in support of Ukraine took place in Washington, D.C., outside the Russian Embassy. The event was organized by an American veteran who is currently fighting against Russian occupiers as part of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3rd SASB) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the rally, a foreign volunteer publicly recited the text of the “Prayer of a Ukrainian Nationalist.”
A video recording of this event was released by Ukrainian activist and reporter Marichka Hlyten, who is actively involved in advocating for Ukraine’s interests in the U.S. and implementing cultural projects.
The action was accompanied by a visual performance: activists illuminated the building of the Russian diplomatic mission, projecting a large Ukrainian national flag onto its facade. In an attempt to counter this, staff at the Russian embassy turned on their own lighting equipment, using it to try to obscure the Ukrainian symbols with images of the letters Z and V, which are the Kremlin’s official symbols of military aggression. Despite provocations from the Russian side, the event attracted significant attention from the American public and demonstrated the solidarity of international veterans with the Ukrainian people’s struggle.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran with the nickname Civ Div from the Ukrainian International Legion posted a video filmed in the Zaporizhzhia region at the very start of the counteroffensive.
