Anti-corruption agencies have summarized the results of their efforts to combat high-level corruption during the first half of 2026
During the first six months of 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office focused on exposing large-scale schemes in the defense-industrial complex, the energy sector, as well as among senior officials in all branches of government.
The results of the anti-corruption agencies’ work in figures:
Charges and Trials: 107 individuals were charged, 106 appeared in court (including 4 members of parliament), and 55 High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) verdicts against 76 individuals became final.
Economic impact: The total economic impact from restitution and confiscations exceeded 1.18 billion UAH, of which more than 139 million UAH was allocated to the needs of the Armed Forces.
Among the most high-profile cases are the investigation into the former head of the Office of the President (laundering over 460 million hryvnias through a scheme at “Energoatom”), the former Minister of Energy (laundering over $112 million), and the former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration (misappropriation of 141 million UAH from the “green” tariff). In the defense sector, an official from the State Border Guard Service was caught extorting a $1 million bribe for a contract for FPV drones, embezzling 32 million hryvnias at “Ukroboronprom,” and engaging in a 350 million hryvnia scheme involving spare parts for armored vehicles. In addition, a case was referred to court against the head of a parliamentary faction in the Verkhovna Rada for bribing colleagues, the list of judges under suspicion in the Supreme Court case has been expanded, and the 6-year prison sentence for former State Fiscal Service head Roman Nasirov has been upheld.
