Near Kupyansk, the Russians have begun using a new offensive tactic
Russian troops in the Kupiansk sector are attempting to intensify pressure in a westerly direction to create conditions for a possible incursion into Kupiansk from the north. At the same time, this plan by the occupiers has not yet yielded the desired results.
According to Tregubov, Russian forces may attempt to expand the zone of potential advance to the west, particularly toward Raivka.
“It seems to me, at least based on an analysis of maps and intelligence reports, that they (the Russians—ed.) are trying to apply a little more pressure in a westerly direction, toward Raivka itself, in order to expand their ability to penetrate directly into the city from the north,” said Tregubov.
Previously, the occupiers attempted to advance through Holubivka, but are now seeking additional options for their offensive operations.
The spokesperson noted that, as of now, Russian troops have not managed to achieve the desired result.
“So far, it’s been ineffective, but at least the plan is clear. The plan is logical: if it were to succeed, it would certainly be effective for them. But so far, it just isn’t working out,” Tregubov noted.
At the same time, he said, the overall tactics of Russian forces in the Kupiansk direction remain largely unchanged.
Periods of increased and decreased attack intensity may be linked, in particular, to troop rotations, the restoration of logistics, and the replenishment of personnel.
