Brave1 is organizing a grant competition to develop humanoid robots for the Ukrainian Defense Forces

Ukraine plans to hold a grant competition for the development of humanoid robots to meet the needs of the Armed Forces. The initiative is being implemented by the Brave1 defense cluster, and its main goal is to maximize the automation of the front lines and reduce risks to Ukrainian military personnel.

The creation of humanoid robots is in line with current global trends, as this field is actively developing in the United States and China.

In the first phase, Ukrainian engineers will work on creating simpler platforms, which will later be equipped with broader functionality and new capabilities.

At the same time, unlike civilian projects abroad, the Ukrainian program will be entirely focused on defense tasks and use in combat conditions.

The new technologies are expected to help the Ukrainian military hold their positions more effectively, carry out combat missions, and reduce risks to personnel.

Ukraine has already become one of the world’s key testing grounds for the latest defense technologies, particularly those developed by Western startups.

Previously, Phantom MK-1 humanoid soldier robots from Foundation were delivered to Ukraine to assess their capabilities.

At the same time, experts note that modern humanoid robots remain expensive, difficult to operate, and require regular recharging. Their design includes about 20 electric motors that must operate flawlessly, and such machines can lose their balance and malfunction.

Furthermore, the use of humanoid robots directly alongside units on the battlefield requires further refinement due to potential risks.

Andriy Hrytsenyuk, the head of Brave1, announced the launch of this new initiative during the Brave1 Advantage event.

Recently, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense codified and approved for service a new domestically produced unmanned aerial system, the “TALION.” It can function both as an interceptor of enemy drones and as a strike drone.

Previously, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense had certified and authorized the “Nebokray” mobile workshops for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The system is designed for the repair and maintenance of drones.

The Ministry of Defense has standardized and authorized the use of the new “General Chereshnya” FPV unmanned aerial system within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
